Shrink Belly Fat

To shrink belly fat is a real challenge for most of us. There are physiological and psychological barriers to overcome if you are to successfully lose belly fat and keep it off.

Losing excess belly fat leads to a longer life span.

Physiological Barriers to Losing Belly Fat:
  • Body fat is deposited very quickly in the abdominal area. This is the most efficient place to store the excess energy we consume.

  • Belly fat is some of the last fat we lose. Many times we lose fat in our face and other areas before we lose the stubborn fat around our midsection.

  • We have a fixed number of fat cells. We can’t do anything about the number of adipocytes or fat cells in our body without liposuction. This is a genetically determined number that is beyond our control.

To shrink belly fat we must reduce the size of these individual cells. These cells, however, will remain ready to expand again if we consume too many calories.

  • We lose muscle mass and add fat more easily as we age. This is no reason to throw in the towel on exercise and proper nutrition. It is simply a physiological fact that we must accept and work within its parameters.

  • We lose belly fat at a slow and steady rate. Most of us want fast results. We grow impatient when results come slowly. This causes most people to give up before they reach their goal of flat abs.

The fact is that we can only lose 1-2 pounds of body fat per week safely. This is a physiological fact that we must not try to violate.

Psychological Barriers to Losing Belly Fat:

  • Eating and emotions are closely linked. Obesity is a complex problem. There are many reasons people overeat. Depression, stress, loneliness, past trauma, job dissatisfaction, relationship difficulties, worry, and fear are some of the reasons that people reach for chocolate bars.

If these issues are not recognized and dealt with in a healthy manner, they can crop up and sabotage a great fitness and nutrition program.

  • We get comfortable in our ruts. We get into bad eating ruts and routines that don’t include any exercise. These ruts become comfortable even though they are quite unhealthy. Breaking free from these ruts to shrink belly fat can be a significant mental challenge.

  • It requires mental energy to stay on track and reach a goal. We know it takes physical energy to burn belly fat. But it also requires perseverance, patience, and determination to reach this goal. This can exact quite a mental toll as time wears on.

You can shrink belly fat and significantly improve your health and wellness. Coaching can help you overcome these obstacles and others to reach your goal of having flat abs.

You can do it if you will never give up.
