Lose the Belly Fat
Lose the belly fat and keep it off is probably on your mind these days. It’s on the minds of most of us. It seems like most of us have to really work to lose belly fat. If you’re one of those people thinking, “my fat belly just gets bigger every year,” then you’re not alone. You can burn the belly fat!
There are certain factors to consider as we develop a plan to burn belly fat:- Age.
As we get older our metabolism slows. This means that the number of calories to sustain us decreases. If we continue consuming the same number of calories we will actually gain weight. We also lose lean muscle mass as we get older. This diminishes our ability to burn calories while resting since muscle tissue is an effective calorie-burner. These two changes along with a decreased activity level make it challenging to lose the belly fat as we get older. - Habits. If we have an accumulation of belly fat it is because of habits we have formed. We are all too familiar with the effort that is required to break habits. Habits related to food and activity are especially challenging. Some of these habits include:
- Eating little or no breakfast. Very few people start their day with a nutritious breakfast. This sets the stage for a day of being hungry that concludes with a huge dinner and late night binging.
- Eating a high-fat content lunch. With busy schedules many people eat quick and very unhealthy lunches. These lunches will typically contain as many calories as some of us need all day.
- Eating too few meals. It is very difficult to lose the belly fat and keep it off when you skip meals. To keep your metabolism revved up to burn belly fat you need to eat small meals every 3-4 hours. Each of these meals should consist of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and unsaturated fat.
- Drinking too little water. Most people live in a slightly dehydrated state. The sensation of thirst is mistaken for hunger and leads to unnecessary eating. You should be drinking a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water. You simply cannot burn belly fat without
water.
- Attitude. This is a key to reaching your fat loss goals. You must believe that you can lose belly fat. It isn’t always easy to stay
motivated to lose body fat.
You will need to take special measures to ensure that your attitude stays positive.
Another aspect of your attitude must be patience. It is not possible to lose the belly fat quickly. Plan to lose approximately 1-2 pounds of fat each week.
