How To Get Washboard Abs
Knowing how to get washboard abs isn’t as complicated as you might think. What we’re talking about here is how to get flat abs fast. You’re probably tired of carrying a little excess belly fat but you think it would take eating lettuce all day and doing 1000 crunches every day. Wrong.
Everyone has abdominal muscles and everyone has belly fat. It all boils down to how much belly fat you have overlying your abdominal muscles. So there really are two essential pieces of knowledge you need:
how to burn fat and how to build muscle.
Body fat is like your reserve storage tank for energy. Burning fat is essentially releasing calories from this storage tank so that you have fuel for physical activities. When we think of fat we tend to think of large blobs of fat. Well, it might look like a large blob around your waist but it is actually microscopic in nature. Fat is stored in cells called adipocytes. The number of these cells is a fixed number. You can’t do anything to decrease the number of adipocytes (ok, surgery will do this for you!). If you are eating more calories than you consume each day then you will be storing these calories as fat. I really doesn’t matter what the calories come from. You could be eating nothing but fruit, olive oil, almonds, baked chicken, and protein bars every day. But, if you are eating too much of these foods the extra calories will be stored as fat in your adipocytes. So how do you lose the fat? You burn fat by shrinking the size of these adipocytes. These cells love to hold on to this fat just in case you need it later in an emergency such as starvation. How so you pry this fat from these stubborn cells? You must create a calorie deficit. You are currently eating a number of calories each day that allows your body to maintain its fat content. It is only when you create a deficit in this number and the number of calories your body actually needs to function that these adipocytes will release their fat reserves. If you want to know how to get washboard abs you must know how to create this calorie deficit. This is essential to losing belly fat. Most people think of immediately cutting calories drastically. These are the so-called crash diets. Don’t do this! Drastically cutting calories is not the best way to lose belly fat for many reasons. The best reason, I believe, is that you simply cannot sustain these low daily calorie intakes. That is the reason that most people eventually gain all their fat back and more. Don’t you know a few people who have done this? People who have learned how to get washboard abs will tell you that it is better to start cutting calories gradually. You will develop better eating habits that you will be able to sustain. The key here is to be patient. The fat won’t come off overnight but it will gradually melt away. The second way to create a calorie deficit is to increase your activity level. This burns more calories while you are exercising and also makes your body burn fat more efficiently while you are resting. Again, you will want to increase your activity level gradually. This will help avoid injury. Think long-term. Those who are really successful at learning how to get washboard abs know that the absolute best way to get flat abs fast is to combine the two methods of cutting calories and increasing your activity level. Once you start losing belly fat you will be able to see your abdominal muscles. Remember, if you aren’t losing belly fat you can do 1000 crunches every day and you’ll never see your abs. The exercises to develop your abdominal muscles aren’t as complicated as you might think. Nor do you have to spend hours each week doing ab exercises.
