Flat Abs Exercise
Facts and Tips
Your flat abs exercise routine must be based on sound principles and facts instead of marketing hype. You want flat abs because you are tired of the bulging belly fat in your midsection. Now is the time to get started.
Here are some belly fat facts you need to know:
- You didn’t accumulate belly fat overnight.
- You didn’t accumulate belly fat by eating right and exercising.
- Crunches cause a burning sensation in your abdominal muscles but they DON’T remove belly fat.
- You get flat abs when you burn belly fat; not when you build abdominal muscles.
- There are no exercises you can perform that will target the removal of belly fat. In other words, there is no magical flat abs exercise.
- There are exercises to lose belly fat as fat is lost over your entire body.
I was asked recently for the single best exercise to get flat abs. My answer was jogging or brisk walking. I received a strange look. Let me explain.
You want flat abs. That means you have a bulge in your midsection that you want to lose. This bulge is composed of excess belly fat. Underlying this belly fat is your set of abdominal muscles.
The first step is the same whether you want to look lean with flat abs or you want to have 6-pack abs where your individual abdominal muscles are visible. This first step is to remove belly fat from your midsection.
"You have abdominal muscles – Start Finding Them Today!"
The problem is that there is no single flat abs exercise that will remove belly fat before fat comes off other areas of your body. I see people all the time in the gym doing crunches and getting on abdominal machines with the idea that they are getting flat abs. It simply won’t happen.
If you want to remove belly fat you must create a calorie deficit. There are two ways to do this:
1. Reduce calorie intake.
2. Increase physical activity.
It really is that simple and there are no shortcuts. Here are some tips to create a calorie deficit.
Tips to Reduce Calorie Intake
- Don’t put your body in starvation mode. When you miss meals or wait too long between meals, your body goes into starvation mode. This sends signals to your body to store fat to prevent starving to death. Eat small meals every 3-4 hours.
- Eat a healthy breakfast. This includes a lean, low-fat protein, and a complex carbohydrate. This revs your metabolism to burn fat all day.
- Incorporate
whey protein
powder into your diet. It’s low-fat and has many benefits.
- Keep plenty of fruits and vegetables available. These are very low calorie. You can fill up on these and consume minimal calories.
- Drink plenty of water. Thirst can be mistaken for hunger and lead to needless calorie consumption.
Flat Abs Exercise Tips- Do aerobic or cardio exercise 3-5 times per week. There is a fad movement that dismisses cardio exercise. Don’t ignore cardio. Use interval training to enhance the calories burned during your cardio sessions.
- Perform strength training exercises 2-3 times per week. Building muscle has many benefits. One of these is that muscle burns more calories than fat.
- Concentrate on major muscle groups. Exercises that target the smaller muscles have less effect on your calorie deficit. In other words, push ups that work major muscle groups are more effective than dumbbell bicep curls.
- Perform supersets. This means doing two exercises in succession instead of taking rest breaks in between. Push-pull combinations work very well. For example you could superset pull-ups and pushups to work your back and chest muscles.
- Never work the same muscles on successive muscles. Muscle is actually built on rest days. No rest, no new muscle growth.
This common sense flat abs exercise routine will bring you results much faster than you think.
