Does The Bowflex Really Work

Does the Bowflex really work is a common question that gets asked after seeing this unique looking piece of home gym equipment. You've probably seen other pieces of exercise equipment that promise big results but really don't deliver what was promised. That's because many of them don't adhere to sound principles of burning fat and building muscle. But that isn't true of Bowflex.

To discover the 5 odd foods that kill abdominal fat please

There are two key components that are necessary parts of any plan to lose fat and build muscle. One of these is aerobic exercise. There are many forms that you can use such as running, walking, elliptical trainers, swimming, rowing, and many others. Any kind of movement that raises your heart rate can be used as you aerobic or cardio exercise. There are three very important words, however, that you must remember in order to have an effective aerobic exercise plan:

  • Frequency. You will need to engage in some form of aerobic exercise at least 3 times each week. Without overdoing it or risking injury it is better to aim for 4-5 session for more fat loss.

  • Duration. Your exercise sessions will need to last at least 20 minutes. Those who work out for 30-45 minutes see better results.

  • Intensity. You've got to raise your heart rate into that fat burning heart rate zone. You need to at least break a light sweat during your workout. That means don't take a magazine to the treadmill or elliptical machine.

Does the Bowflex really work as a part of your aerobic exercise plan? Not if you're talking about the Bowflex Home Gym. But Bowflex does make an excellent aerobic exercise machine called the Bowflex Treadclimber. This provides a great low impact exercise that quickly gets your heart rate into that fat burning heart rate zone.

The second key component of your plan to burn fat and build muscle is resistance training. This is better known as weight training or weight lifting. Unfortunately this is still misunderstood as being for muscle bound bodybuilders who spend half their day in the gym.

But resistance training can be used by beginners, elderly, and anyone else to build muscle and improve their health. One of the little known secrets about building muscle is that muscle actually burns many more calories even while you are sleeping than fat burns. So resistance training turns your body into a fat- burning machine.

Does the Bowflex really work for resistance training? Yes. The Bowflex Home Gyms provide resistance through tension instead of gravity. When you use weights you are getting a workout fighting against the gravity exerted on the weights. Bowflex uses tension. The result is the same in that your muscles are working against resistance.

Whether you use weights or one of the Bowflex Home Gyms you have to put a load on your muscles. In other words, you've got to do some work. Many people have reached that fat loss and muscle gain goals with a convenient Bowflex Home Gym. They are worth your consideration if you're in the market for home gym equipment and are willing to work to burn fat and build muscle.
