Diet Motivation

Diet motivation is one of the most difficult types of motivation to maintain. We usually don’t have a problem buying the diet book and filling our refrigerator with lettuce and tofu.

We do have a problem of staying on track after a week or two. We cave in, go off the diet, return to our old eating patterns, feel frustrated, and begin the cycle again six months later.

There is no reason to feel alone when it comes to struggling to stay on your diet. Most of us face the same challenge of trying to eat right and stay fit.

Here are some diet motivation tips that will help us reach our goals to lose belly fat and become more healthy by eating properly.

Diet Motivation Tips
  • Develop a long-term mindset. Crash diets are just that; you crash. You don’t want to crash you want to lose belly fat and gain more energy. Don’t make the mistake of expecting quick results. Be patient. If you take the pounds off slowly you can keep them off.

  • Write down where you are now. Get a notebook and write down how much you weigh, what size clothes you wear, and how you feel. You need to see the starting point. It will be helpful to see this picture of yourself on paper. You might even want to have a photograph taken.

  • Write down where you want to be. Turn the page in your notebook and write down what you want to weigh, what size clothes you want to wear, and how energetic you want to feel. Write down how these changes will affect your life. Come back and read these words frequently.

  • Write down how you will get there. Next write down your plan. Describe how you will eat and exercise. Write as much detail as possible about how you will accomplish your goals.

  • Write down the date you want to get there. Most people are able to safely lose about 2 lbs. per week. You might lose a little more some weeks and a little less other weeks. This is a good average. So, if you want to lose 10 lbs. you need to allow yourself 5 weeks to accomplish this goal.

  • Stay off the scales. It can be very frustrating to weigh yourself every day. The scales can be very deceiving when you body is burning fat. A good practice is to weigh yourself at the same time once per week. You can probably tell more by how your clothes are fitting.

  • Expect bad days. You’re going to have those days where you blow it. That’s normal. Just pick right back up and keep moving forward. Don’t let a failed day lead to a failed plan.

  • Always eat breakfast. Research has strongly demonstrated that people who don’t eat breakfast gain belly fat. Make this a habit. This is so important that you really can’t afford to break this rule if your goal is to lose belly fat.

  • Never skip meals. You really need to be eating every 3-4 hrs. throughout the day. This really optimizes your metabolism for fat burning. You will find that skipping meals is usually the culprit behind your bad days.

  • Keep it all in perspective. You are a significant person no matter how much you weigh. Don’t get these things confused. It is great to want to improve yourself but it is a mistake to not accept yourself for who you really are.
