Burn Off Belly Fat

Burn off belly fat by working with your body, not against it. Your body doesn’t like not being fed. You can’t starve off belly fat. You burn belly fat with food.

To burn off belly fat quickly you need to eat all day. Yes, I know this is counter intuitive. It is also counter culture and counter fad diet marketing hype. People think that you are burning belly fat when your stomach is growling with hunger.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Your body functions physiologically with absolutely no awareness of what diet book you are reading. Your body’s organs are operating at the microscopic level completely oblivious to your desire to wear smaller clothes.

You only burn off belly fat when you work within the biological laws governing your body’s physiology. You will always be punished when you violate these laws.

Your body needs energy to make it through the day. This energy comes from the foods you eat. When we eat something our body will either use that energy or store it. Your body will store this excess energy in the form of fat.

There are two ways your body does this. One is by increasing the number of fat cells or adipocytes. This is called cell hyperplasia and typically happens only when we are children. This is why childhood obesity is so tragic. Fat cells are getting added that can never be eliminated.

The second way your body stores fat is by packing it into the existing fat cells. These cells become larger and so does your waist size. You don’t add fat by the inches but by microscopic increments at the cellular level.

This is a very sophisticated system our body uses. It isn’t storing fat so that we will have to buy new clothes, feel sluggish, and increase our risks of disease. These are all the results of us adding too much fat. It is storing fat for future energy needs.

It’s like when we have a fuel shortage in our country. We are glad during these times that someone has stored some gasoline somewhere. Otherwise we would be stuck on the highway.

Our body is doing the same thing. It is storing energy in case we need it later.

This is all very important to know if you want to burn off belly fat. Otherwise, you could end up asking your body to do the very thing you are trying to stop: storing belly fat.

When you drastically cut calories or go extended periods of time without eating your body thinks an emergency is on the way. It is like driving down the road and seeing gas stations all closed with signs saying, “No Fuel.” You would start panicking.

Our body panics when it doesn’t get fed. It then will hold on to stored fat tenaciously. It will also slow down all the normal, everyday physiological processes of each body organ. This is what we call slowing down our metabolism.

When we are trying to burn off belly fat we want the exact opposite to occur. We want our body to turn loose of this stored fat and we want it to speed up our rate of metabolism. In fact, these two things must happen if we are to ever have flat abs.

So, here are some tips to help you work with your body and not against it to blast off belly fat:

  • Eat within one hour of waking in the morning. Your body has been in the fasting mode as you sleep. Your metabolism has slowed because you need very little energy while sleeping.

Now that you are awake you want to rev that metabolism up to start burning stored fat. The only way to do that is by sending the signal to your body that there is no food shortage. Otherwise it stays in the fasting mode and clings to stored fat reserves. What you eat in the morning is very important. You should eat some lean protein, complex carbohydrate, and a small amount of unsaturated fat. This will rev your metabolism for maximum fat-burning efficiency.

Breakfast is your most important meal. You will be fueling your body for the rest of the day. When you are going on a trip the first thing you do is make sure your tank is full of fuel. You don’t fill up with gasoline at the end of the trip. This is the crucial mistake many people make with their diet. They fill up with fuel at the end of the day. This fuel is what gets stored as fat, especially belly fat.

  • Eat 5-6 small meals during the day. Eating one or two large meals each day has become very common with our busy lifestyles. Typically people will eat unhealthy snacks all day, grab a high-fat lunch, and then eat a huge dinner. This wreaks havoc with your metabolism. This is the formula for increasing your belly fat and your risk of several diseases.

Eating a lean protein, complex carbohydrate, and small amount of unsaturated fat in the proper proportions for your body size every 3-4 hours is how you will burn off belly fat.

  • Eat today like it is a new day. That’s because it is a new day. You can’t do anything about yesterday. If you blow it and have a bad eating day, don’t try to make up for it by starving the next day. Your body will only store more fervently the fat from yesterday. Just start over by eating a healthy breakfast and continuing to eat all day long. This will help your body burn off the excess calories from the prior day.

Eat all day and develop an effective exercise routine and you will be on your way to health, wellness, and flat abs.
